Men's Issues

When it comes to counseling and mental health, men are oftentimes discouraged from even considering they’re having a hard time and need support. The societal pressures and messages they’ve received throughout their life tell them to push through by emphasizing strength, independence, and stoicism. The idea that men may be struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-worth has been dismissed by society. The unfortunate reality is that these men end up developing unhealthy coping skills such as substance abuse, issues with anger, workaholism, and withdrawing/isolating. These can then impact their work, relationships, and other meaningful roles in extreme ways.

In counseling, I provide a nonjudgmental space for men to explore the struggles they’re having. We explore their goals and wants in life and find ways to make this happen. Counseling can help with developing emotional awareness, healthy coping skills, and communication skills to improve relationships. By doing this, not only are men able to manage their overall mental health, but they’re able to find a strength within them they may have never imagined existing.
